Polk Audio was born from a college startup that believed in achieving the impossible of Great Sound For All.

My Role

Write a social and email campaign that culminated in the launch of a 50 Year Anniversary Limited Edition Speaker, based on one of Polk’s most award-winning designs.

Take a trip down memory lane & Polk's first five years: 1971-1975 👉🏼

a) 1971, George and Matt work on their first speakers called “The Baby Bottoms” using $200 in savings in a garage; b) 1972, Polk Audio Inc., is founded June 22 with a team of three: George Klopfer, Matt Polk and Sandy Gross; d) 1973, Polk Audio’s first home located on Notre Dame Lane in Baltimore, the offices are in the dining room, the factory in the living room, and the woodshop in a shed behind the kitchen; e) 1975, Polk moves to the Old Mill in Dickeyville with only three other assembly workers and six total employees.

a) 1975, Polk Model 7 aka Monitor 7 raised the bar for home audio; b) 1977, Polk Manufacturing, Baltimore, MD, the first real assembly line that greatly increases production; c) 1978, Polk runs billboards that read “Let us POLK you in the ear!”; d) 1980, main cabinet assembly with tweeters of Polk’s own design e) 1981, the company has grown to 100 employees & moves to Annapolis Rd in Baltimore.

a) 1985, Stereo Dimensional Array (SDA) technology is born, one of Polk’s most important innovations to perfecting the soundstage; b) 1986, Polk issues first IPO on NASDAQ, four founders: Sandy Gross, Craig Georgi, Matt Polk, George Klopfer; c) 1990, RTA-15TL deep tower achieves outstanding imaging and low coloration.

PolkAudio 👀The early ‘9️⃣0️⃣s. Polk introduces one of its greatest innovations, Dynamic Balance technologies. This creates lower distortion and purer sound across all speakers, based on a) Balanced operation of moving parts; b) Rigid stabilization of non-moving parts.

a) 1992, the LS Series and S Series loudspeakers represent 20 years of groundbreaking, including Dynamic Balance technologies, resulting in three-dimensional imaging, rich detail, and balanced, seamless response.

b) 1993, the RM5000 is specially designed to reproduce the dramatic thrills and SFX of movies. The viewer now had a three-dimensional effect through a five-channel system, including a dedicated center channel speaker, for dialogue.

c) 1996, the RT20p is a direct descendant of the Signature Reference Theater System and the first speaker with a built-in powered subwoofer.

PolkAudio 🙌 Our celebration of 50 Years of Polk continues with 1999-2005. Highlighting the first time an audio company partnered with a design company, plus the introduction of our redesigned logo.

a) 1999, Polk’s championship audio performance blends MOMO’s design style to create the Polk/MOMO Series of car audio products. This is the first time an audio company partnered with a design company.

b) 2000 Josh Claar’s legendary Honda Civic MOMO install.

c) 2001, Polk introduces a new logo and the LSi Series. These speakers are Polk’s expression of a true high-performance loudspeaker that is also reasonably priced. LSI immediately garners accolades from the audio industry.

d) 2005, The SR Signature Reference Series defines the apex of high-performance car audio. The series incorporates many technologies & features found in Polk’s home audio systems.
